Tomorrow, sunday, the frankische galerie in the rosenberg fortress in kronach will receive a prominent addition to the family from munich: salome with the head of johannes des taufers (around 1508) and "maria with the child and the bunch of grapes (c. 1525) two excellent works by the famous renaissance painter in the cranach room of the frankische galerie.
The picture panels, which the bavarian state government is permanently lending to cronach from the holdings of the bavarian national museum and the old pinakothek in munich, represent a major enrichment of the already very high-quality cranach holdings in the gallery and also provide numerous new impulses for the cultural tourism marketing of the city of lucas cranach.
As is fitting, the museum’s "new addition to the family" should be be buried appropriately. The tourism and event company invites all those interested in art to an open day at the frankische galerie tomorrow, sunday, from 12 noon. Admission to the gallery is free of charge.
